How to set up YoungunsTube

Follow these steps in order. You only need to do steps 1–4 once. After that, your child can sign in on any supported device using the email code flow.

   Create your parent account

   Open the sign-in page and choose Continue with Google. This creates your parent account — kids never sign in with Google, only you do.

   Set your 4-digit parent PIN

   After signing in you'll be asked to create a 4-digit PIN. This PIN protects the parent dashboard so your child can't change their own settings, subscriptions, or watch schedules. Pick something memorable but not obvious (avoid 0000 or 1234).

   Create a profile for each child

   From the parent dashboard, add a profile for each child. Give it their name and pick an avatar. Each profile has its own subscribed channels, watch schedule, daily time limit, and history — so siblings don't share settings.

   Approve channels and set safety rules

   Inside a child's profile, add the YouTube channels you're happy for them to watch. You can also set a per-channel time multiplier (for example 0× for educational channels so they don't eat into daily minutes), and add any words or channels you want blocked from search.

   Set watch windows and daily limits

   Pick the times of day your child can watch (for example after school and before bedtime) and set a total daily minute limit. Outside those windows the app shows a friendly "not right now" screen — no unlock, no workaround.

   Install the app on your child's devices

   Phone or tablet (iOS / Android): open youngunstube.com in Safari or Chrome, then tap the browser's Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen. This installs YoungunsTube as an app icon that opens fullscreen.Laptop or desktop: just open youngunstube.com in any modern browser. No install needed.Samsung Smart TV: the TV app is installed once from the Samsung Smart Hub — get in touch during the pilot and we'll help you install it. After that, launching the tile opens YoungunsTube directly and updates automatically.

7. 7

   Sign your child in with an email code

   On supervised devices (Family Link) or the TV, Google sign-in isn't practical. Instead, on the sign-in screen tap "Sign in with a code instead", enter your parent email, and we'll email you a 6-digit code. Type the code into the child's device to sign it in. This works because your account is already registered — no new sign-up is created.

   Hand it over — you're done

   Pick your child's profile and hand the device over. They only ever see their own approved videos and channels. To change any settings, tap the parent icon and enter your PIN — the child can't get past this screen.

Permission prompts on supervised devices

If your child uses an Android device with Google Family Link (or another supervised-account setup), you may see a prompt asking you to approve access to youtube-nocookie.com. This is expected and safe.

• Error 151

  "This video can't be played in an embedded player on this device"

  The video may be age-restricted or blocked from embedded playback on that specific device.

  What to try: Try the same video on another device (e.g. your phone or the TV). If it works elsewhere, the supervised device's restrictions are the cause.

• Error 5 / 153

  "This device can't play this video"

  The device's browser or WebView may be too old.

  What to try: Check for system / WebView updates on the device.

If every video from one specific channel fails on a particular device but works on others, that channel's content may be tagged age-restricted by YouTube. Consider removing that channel from your child's approved list.
